You seek a bygone building
On an extremely tiny island,
We arrived by trusted galleon
And took the path to high land.
They started to do the building
Back in eighteen twenty seven,
One hundred and six "cells"
May lead in fact to heaven?
We explored the "Tapestry of Life",
It really made us think
And muse on Jason and his boat,
Maintained here so as not to sink.
Possibly fifty six inhabitants now,
Plus visitors by day,
A tiny peace of paradise,
Or so they often say.
A Gulf of distant memories,
Some were indeed quite sad,
And as I have just mentioned,
Jason visited as a lad?
Maybe one day we'll go back there,
And climb the steps once more,
But not just for salt and water
Or for sleeping on the floor.
We'll take the trusted galleon
With the chance to swim and lunch,
I'm sure you know where I describe,
Or maybe have a hunch?
A mix of woven fabric,
You must really try to go,
Happy memories twelve years gone by,
Of this part of Greece, just sew.

Yes, Susie, it's a monastery. In later years, I believe part of the building has been/is used for something else. The monastery does have a name but is more commonly known by the name of the old place/village/island.

I don't know how old Jason was when he, as legend has it, visited the island so do not let the word lad? mislead you. Considerably younger than me probably, but old enough to have sailing skills...

I am trying, was not sure about Anafi because population is a lot bigger than Wendy says

Sorry Susie, it's not Anafi. Smaller, different area, fewer people and no cars...

There was a third use for the building, but monastery was what I am looking for, it is easy for you to find the name out once you have the name of the island.

I am almost sure at least two of you have been to the area, even if not to the island itself.
