No, much greener than Leros and much better known.

Thassos? Struggling to find much greener as Leros is pretty green LOL

Zakynthos?

Zakynthos it is.Now tell me where on Zakynthos.

Well, that looks like the Vasilikas peninsula in the background but there's not really any foreground to identify.

In the right area, Chas.

Given the foreground visible in the second shot, it could be almost anywhere between Port Agios Sostis through Lagana to Kalamaki, or way down south in Limni Keri.

However, if the first shot was taken in the same general direction, it could be Sekania or Dafni.

Putting both together, the probability is Kalamaki .... or between Kalamaki and Sekania.

My goodness, you know Zakynthos well!! This was taken in 1983 and looking at the same place now, well......!!

Kalamaki is too far north.

Which leaves the greater Lagana bay area and the best views are from Agios Sostis harbour ....
I don't think the wind sculpted that in so few years, so there's one bit that is still recognisable.

The second photo is not from the same place, only the same island, Zakynthos. If I remember rightly, it was somewhere near Argassi.

Small wonder I couldn't reconcile what I saw with the remembered geography ....... as if I don't have enough to contend with!

Since I only jumped in with towns after John identified the island, I'll happily defer to his supplying the next poser.

You didn't actually say it was Limni Keriou but I will let you off as you did mention it!

Well I did not recognise it at all and we have had a holiday there!!!!

Never mind, I have lovely memories of taking the local boat to the Keri caves and while I was still making my way to the caves I met a seal swimming out!! Of course Rob was already in the cave and had the underwater camera with him

The seal was large, grey and very inquisitive and friendly, swan around me for about 2 minutes s then ambled off. Of course by the time Rob came into view it had swum further round into the rocks and although he found it, was unable to get a could picture. If anyone is going to Zakinthos visit the Keri caves in preference to the more famous Blue caves, much more unspoilt, not crowded and cheaper and just as lovely
