Ambracian Gulf?

I don't think it's the Ambracian Gulf but close.

I think it's Prassonissi, on the southern tip of Rhodes.

However, when we were there, the two sides of the peninsular appeared to be differently coloured water - it's where the Mediterranean and Aegean seas nearly meet.

It certainly isn't, Chas! Never been there. Think more westerly.

I think Lydia is correct. The town would be Lefkada I reckon

The first photo is looking down onto the tip of Lefkas Island, along the lovely outer beach with the windmills on one side and the lagoon on the other. The second photo is looking down to Lefkas town and lagoon.Looking across to the mainland, I guess Actium is there somewhere but I was really only looking for Lefkada.

OK. This won't last long, as you all know where I have been. So until I can get time to scan my old prints, this will have to do.

More likely the Knights' Castle, above the Old Town would be my guess.
