Re: Where in Greece?
Phalacrocorax Aristotelis? (The European Shag?)

Just in case my answer is right, I'm not online now for a few days and cannot provide photos at the moment either. So my contribution would be a little ditty with three questions to follow:
Joanna travelled narrow winding roads
To ancient derelict abodes
To her not quite The End of the World
Where a cloak and flag together are curled
(Weneki32 14.08.14)
1. What is Joanna's surname?
2. Where are the ancient derelict abodes?
3. Why have I used the word "cloak" - to what does it refer? (2 word answer)

Re: Where in Greece?
Wonder if she went to some ancient ruined city while in Crete. Tried to watch the series on line last night and they all came up as not available, expired

Joanna travelled narrow winding roads
To ancient derelict abodes
To her not quite The End of the World
Where a cloak and flag together are curled

Great, 2 correct answers, now the third should be easy.
1 ) Yes Susie, Joanna's surname is Lumley - she travelled Greece in 2011 and her documentary Joanna Lumley's Greek Odyssey was first shown on ITV in 2012, I believe. However, it was repeated in 2014, the series of four programmes I saw.
3) Yes Joy, you are correct with cloak = cape, the two word answer being Cape Tenaron, or Cape Tainaron. This is the southernmost point of the Greek mainland and often referred to as "The End of The World." We walked to the end but Joanna actually took a trip in a boat to see the Gates of Hades.
So now the answer to the second question is easy as you know you are following a narrow winding road to Cape Tainaron (not quite = on the way to) and looking for a place with derelict abodes. An incredible little village, I expect most of you have been if you have hired a car whilst in The Mani.....

Re: Where in Greece?
Well, it isn't actually a winery or an ouzerie but you're on the right lines.
