Aren't they something else, Kingfishers? My favourite bird.
We have a pair of Kingfishers in our park and I have been fortunate enough to see one of them dive and make a catch, right by the roadside.
Plus I have seen two Smyrna Kingfishers in Greece. One by the Palamidi and the other up in the Pindus mountains at a trout farm. It had been shot and stuffed!
As for taking pictures..........................not good enough or quick enough.
Thanks for the post John

Lovely. And if you're very lucky, you can see a Kingfisher between Ag Nic and Pantazi. In September we just caught a flash of blue following 100m or so behind the Brit birdwatching couple (hello if you're reading this, hope you struck lucky later) with a Nikon camera body just like mine but a very BIG and serious lens
